After searching through the forums, I didn't see an answer to this specific question (however I feel I may already know).
I've noticed after updating my dives manually, that there isn't a spot to include Certification Numbers for Instructors, Dive Masters, or Buddies like there is on paper logs.
I have a feeling it may be something similar to reasons why photos of signatures, and/or stamps are limited for verification forgery purposes; OR one could include their #s in the comments/notes sections in their profiles or dive comments, however, could there be a way to include them with the Dive Boat/Divemaster sections?

I wish I could take your out and say that the reason for there not being a specific field for a certification number for the divemaster, instructor or buddy was as high minded as you suggest. It is simply the case that we don't have a field for that in the logbook database.
In the case of a Buddy, I would suggest that the "comments" field associated with that Buddy is a good place to include their certification number. That way it would be available for any dive that you had the same buddy.
The other option is to include the certification number of the person signing your logbook as part of their signature (the field has a fair amount of room vertically and they can easily fit a cert number under the signature). If the person signing your logbook is not the divemaster/instructor, you can always income their cert number as part of their name when you enter it (Bob Smith, PADI MSDT 90988). Of course, as you suggest, you can also include it in the comments for the dive.
We'll look at having a dedicated location for a cert number for the Dive Boat/Divemaster section in a future update to Dive Log. This sort of change requires a fair amount of coordination with developers of compatible applications though so I wouldn't expect any change to come too quickly. Hopefully the suggested workarounds will suffice until then.
Thank you for the feedback. It is always appreciated.
Cheers,
Greg

Greg,
Thank you very much for the quick reply. I'm sure it would take a while for it to be implemented, but would look forward to that option if/when it becomes available.
Now to do some more research on older versions of dive computers and if they are supported or can be uploaded....LOL
Happy Diving!

Hi Gordon,
Most "older" dive computers use a serial interface which can not be directly connected to an iPhone/iPad. However, we do support a Bluetooth accessory called a DCbuddy that allows for a large number of "older" computers from Suunto, Oceanic, Aeris, Sherwood, Mares, Tusa, and others to work with Dive Log. There is also an Bluetooth accessory from Mares called a Bluelink Pro that allows for some specific Mares computers to be supported. Finally, we support a wide range of "newer" computers that have Bluetooth built in.
You can see the full list of supported computer in the "Store" interface on the Downloads tab of Dive Log. Then if you tap on the "Supported Computer Include" button for each class of device you can see the computer that are supported. If you have a specific computer that you want to know about please feel free to ask and I can tell you its support status in Dive Log (to save you looking through the list and there are some that we *may* support but are not listed as we have not specifically tested them).
Cheers,
Greg
