More Mobile Software

I'm using DiveLog DT - have had it for years. I upgraded my MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Air M1 Running Ventura 13.1. The DiveLog DT was migrated. I checked the AppStore for a more recent version, there isn't one. My DiveLog DT version is 4.8.0 (4.206). When trying to backup the app keeps crashing (report below). What can I do to keep it from crashing or is there a workaround?

Thank you for alerting us to this issue. We will look into it and get back to you as quickly as possible.

As a workaround you can manually create a backup by closing DiveLogDT (this makes sure that all updates to the logbook have been processed) and then using Finder to "duplicate" the logbook file (right click on the file name and choose "Duplicate").

I wanted to collect a bit more information from you if I could.

When you "back up", are you using the "File->Backup" menu option? Does the crash occur before the file chooser is displayed or after you click "Save"? Are you trying to backup into a Cloud (iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) backed location or directly to your local disk? And lastly, what "panel item" are you viewing when you select "File->Backup"?

It is possible that this issue is related to changes in Ventura 13.1. The crash shows that it is not related to the Backup process, but to something else that is happening prior to the backup.

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I had recently (since the last time i used divelog) re-indexed my file structure to accomodate some rules that Dropbox has for multiple family members using the same drop box and I wondered if that was a problem. I quite dive log and restarted it and tried to back up to a different folder - thinking that the filepath might have gotten mixed up. When I did that the problem resolved itsself. My guess what that it was a filepath mismatch.

Unrelated question - can I upload a .jpg copy of my cert cards to the Personal section - under Certification Name / Organization where there is a graphic of a camera. I've tried Edit and dragging or copy/pasting and no-go.

Thanks for letting us know. Yes we also saw the latest Dropbox changes and are going to be testing that out as well shortly. DiveLogDT should still not "crash" when using it however, but unless we can duplicate the problem it is difficult to find.

Yes, you can insert images of the front and back of *each* of your certification cards into your logbook. You are correct that just going into Edit mode and then dragging an image into the "wells" should work. You should see a little Green "+" when you are dragging. I'm guessing though that perhaps you need to first create a "Certification" card and then select it in order to Edit it. If there is no Certification card selected, then you are editing the general "Personal" information in the top half. The idea is to create a "Certification" for each of the different certifications that the training agencies deliver, like Open Water then Advanced Open Water etc. Under the "Action menu" (the "..." or the little gear to the left of the Edit button) you should see "New Certification" where you can create a new one and the list of them will show up in the bottom left.

Let us know if that does not fix it for you and we'll take a closer look.
