I have recently switched from Windows to Mac and all of my dive logs were downloaded via ScubaPro's SmartTrak. How do I import my dive log into Dive Log DT? Thank you for you help.

SmartTrak is a PC only application and does not work on any other platform. So you would need a PC application to import it. Diving Log 5.0 (http://www.divinglog.de) is a Windows application that will, for example, import your SmartTrak logbook and sync it to Dive Log for iOS. If you plan on only doing this one time, and have another dive computer download solution for the future on your Mac, we would be happy to convert your log for you (using Diving Log 5.0) as a "one time thing" and send you back a Dive Log .sql file of the result.

Hi Janice - would this .sql file work for Mac Dive 2? I am using that and want to use your iPad and iPhone Apps for my mobile solutions. I am just looking at a way to "slay the monster" of transferring almost 100 dives so I can get rid of my PC needs. I have a Shearwater Petrel that will be used to record / download all dive data moving forward.

Yes. But let me clarify things a little.

MacDive 2.0 uses a different database technology and a different database format. So it won't use the .sql file directly. But what you can do is use our desktop software, Dive Log Manager, to put your logbook together and then sync it to Dive Log on iOS. And then you can sync *that* back to MacDive on the desktop. Since Dive Log and MacDive use slightly different databases, there are a few minor things that don't match up, but it works very well and you don't necessarily need to use Dive Log Manager after that.

Alternatively, you can change the order around a little bit. You can use MacDive to download your Shearwater Petrel and then use Dive Log Manager to import from your MacDIve database and add or merge in the dive computer information to your .sql logbook. And then sync to Dive Log on iOS using Dive Log Manager instead.

You can choose either method. But we can get you an sql file to get you started.

Thanks for the quick reply! A couple of points I want to make sure I am clear on.
1) The Petrel is my new computer that I want to use moving forward. Right now it has zero dives on it. Moving forward, my Galileo Sol will be my back-up.
2) My entire electronic log is on Smart Trak throgh my Sol.

So here are my questions:
A) Do I understand correctly that If you convert my Smart Trak log to .sql, then I could use the free version of Dive Log to do a one-time txfr to MacDive 2.0? I would like to avoid another $25.00 purchase
B) Dive Log Manager and / or Dive Log DT does not support txfr from Shearwater?

No, Dive Log Manager does not (yet) support direct download of the Shearwater dive computers. But it is in the plan. No time frame available.

Additional Note1: the paid version Dive Log Manager *does* support direct download of your Galileo Sol and Mac Dive does not.

Additional Note2: the free version of Dive Log Manager will import your Shearwater dive computer information from Mac Dive after you have downloaded it.

I saw that - However, I am moving away from my Sol except as a back-up device. That is why I need the "one-time" transfer

On the PC, your Smart Trak file is a .slg file.
