Just returned from Red Sea Liveaboard, logged all my dives on my iPhone out there, then synced the D4 to MacDive when I got back, merged the two sets of data and all looks great!

Only question I have is why the Air in/Out data is taken from the MacDive dataset, and overwritten the inputs i manually entered on my iPhone?

I understand that certain fields take priority when merging two sets of data (eg Profile info taken from the computer and overwritten anything in the iPhone log) but why is Air In/Out one of these, when it is less likely to be correct coming straight from the Computer/MacDive?

Wow. My New Years Resolution is to try and check the forums everyday and to not depend on email notifications to find out when people post forum questions. God forbid the technology should actually be reliable too. So sorry.

I'm sure HB has long since moved on, but the answer to this is probably of general interest. Our general principle is - If the dive being imported from MacDive2 (or any other format for that matter) has a value in the starting or ending pressure fields, then the assumption is that this came from a downloaded dive computer and therefore it is *more* accurate than what was entered in the iPhone. If the importing dive has no value, then the iPhone values are not overwritten. We did have a bug recently where MacDive2 changed and was putting zeroes in these fields no matter what, and so we were *always* overwriting the iPhone values, but this was fixed in the last version of Dive Log Manager, 2.0.10. (And the same "non zero" logic was applied to other formats)

HB - if you ever come back to the forums, we would be interested in getting more information from you on why you think "it is less likely to be correct coming straight from the Computer/MacDive". Our assumptions are usually based on our own experiences which of course are not necessarily anyone else's
