Problem adding Buddies

Post by pompeygreg »

Hi

Just downloaded Dive Log DT from the App Store and i've started adding in my existing dives. I plan to get the iPad version.

When I am trying to add Buddies they aren't showing in the list.

I've selected New Buddy and then the Edit button and added in personal information, but they then don't appear in the list in the middle. If I try to select a buddy from within a dive log the only choice given to me is one showing Null. I seem to have the same problem with Dive Shop.

Can you help?

Hi Greg,

Dive Log DT's Buddy support takes advantage of some features of the AddressBook/Contacts to enable the ability to add Buddies from your Contacts. Even though you might not use this particular feature it's inclusion requires that you grant access to the Contacts database on MacOS Mountain Lion. You should have been prompted to permit this access when you first started interacting with Buddies, but sometime, MacOS seems to forget to ask. You can enable access by running the Systems Preferences application and "Security & Privacy" and then click on the "Privacy" tab. Finally, look for Dive Log DT in the list and add a "check" beside it. Then restart Dive Log DT and your Buddies should work as expected. Please feel free to contact us directly at our support email address (support 'AT' moremobilesoftware 'DOT' com) if that does not resolve the issue and we can look into other possible causes.

For more information on this subject you can visit: http://www.moremobilesoftware.com/FAQ.html#G6

Rest assured that we don't do anything with your Contacts when you enable this setting. We only access your actual Contacts if you click the button to add a Buddy from contacts (the one with the "head") and then the accessed contact is just used to populate your Buddy data in your logbook.

Sorry about the inconvenience this has caused you.

Best Regards,

Greg

Thanks, that's sorted the issue.

I only wish there was a quicker way to add historic dives! It's going to be a long job.
