new Shearwater Perdix
new Shearwater Perdix
Hi. Just received my new Shearwater Perdix dive computer. I wanted to test the ability to download dives to Dive Log (for iOS). I purchased the addon to Dive Log (for iOS) to support Shearwater dive computers from the Store and it appears in the More >> Download screen. It says "Scanning .... bring dive computer into range and enable upload." I set the perdix to upload and see the PC Wait ... on the perdix. It never connects to Dive Log on my iphone. I'm wondering what I'm doing or if the new Perdix has different BT version or ?? from worked with Petrel 2. Thanks for any help.
Re: new Shearwater Perdix
The Petrel 2 and Perdix are *mostly* completely compatible with each other. But Dive Log needed some minor changes because the Perdix advertises itself differently over bluetooth. The Perdix advertises it’s a Perdix and the Petrel 2 says it’s a Petrel
So Dive Log just needed to recognize the Perdix as a device it can support.
We have an update submitted to Apple and are currently waiting for them to review and approve it so it should be available shortly. If you are heading out of internet range or can’t wait for some reason, please contact us on our support email address (support 'at' moremobilesoftware 'dot' com) and we can arrange to get you access to a pre-release version of Dive Log that supports the Perdix.
The in-app purchase that you made will support the Perdix so there will be no need to make any additional purchases once the new update is available.
Dive Log Manager/DiveLogDT also needed to be updated to “recognize” the new Perdix over bluetooth, but otherwise they seem to be compatible.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Janice

Re: new Shearwater Perdix
Thanks Janice for the update. I look forward to the update thru Apple Store. Sorry but I have more (apple ignorant) questions. How do I know this update has been released and is available for download? Will it automatically update on the the app?
Thanks again. Your reply to this post was very helpful.

Re: new Shearwater Perdix
The new version of Dive Log will be available through the App Store on your device as soon as Apple makes it available. Assuming that you have left the default to automatically install updates you should see the new version install the same night that it is released. Otherwise, if you manually install your App Updates you can tap on the "App Store" and then the Updates tab and then the "Update" button next to Dive Log in the list of available apps).
You are looking for version 2.2.2 of Dive Log. You can double check the version that is running by tapping on the Settings tab in Dive Log on iPhone or the "Settings icon" in the sidebar of Dive Log on iPad and then tap on "About". The version is displayed at the top of the About screen (it will say something like "About (Version 2.2.2(2.200))" ... that last number could be different, but if the first number is 2.2.2 you are good to go).
I will also update this thread once the new version has been approved for sale by Apple. Finally, feel free to send me email us at our support email address (support 'at' moremobilesoftware 'dot' com") and I can send you an email as soon as the release is available.
Cheers,
Greg

Re: new Shearwater Perdix
The new version of Dive Log (version 2.2.2) with support for the new Shearwater Perdix is now available on the App Store.
You can update your copy of Dive Log (if it didn't happen automatically) and you should be able to download your new Perdix. The in-app purchase that you have already made for the Petrel 2 includes support for the Perdix as well so you don't need any additional in-app purchases (note that the name of the in-app purchase will be changing to "Shearwater Download" once Apple propagates that change but that is just a name change, the support for the Perdix is included even if you have the "Petrel 2 Download" version of the in-app purchase item and Dive Log version 2.2.2 or later).
Cheers,
Greg

Re: new Shearwater Perdix
Just tested the new update with the Perdix. Works like a charm. Thanks for the great software and customer service.
