Shearwater Support
Shearwater Support
Any chance of support of importing dives from a shearwater?.....
Re: Shearwater Support
Hi,
Thanks for your interest in Dive Log Manager.
There is always a chance
... seriously, while we do not have any concrete plans to directly support any of the Shearwater computers at this point in time, we do keep track of the interest in support for various dive computers. The Shearwater is supported by Diving Log 5.0 (www.divinglog.de) on the PC via their Shearwater Desktop applications and Diving Log 5.0 does support direct sync with Dive Log on iPhone and export to Dive Log Manager.
We would be interested to know which specific Shearwater models you are interested in support for. Also, would you need direct Bluetooth/IrDA support or would importing from the Shearwater Desktop on the Mac be acceptable?
Thanks,
Greg

Re: Shearwater Support
Although direct bluetooth support would be wonderful simply being able to import from the Shearwater Desktop app for Mac would be enough for me.
Its worth noting I am a Technical Instructor in the Florida Keys. Almost all of our students dive Shearwaters and most are Mac Users. Since there has been no support for the Shearwater in any 3rd Party logging apps we have always pointed our customers in the direction of Mac Dive. I am the process of moving from Mac Dive to Dive Log Manager as a result of the better support for doubles as well as the two way sync to Dive Log.
I can almost provide a 100% that if Dive Log Manager supported the shearwater line you would have at least 15 new users with in the month simply from students at our shop.
I dive the Shearwater Proct-SA with oc / ccr / trimix

Re: Shearwater Support
Wondering if any progress has been made on the front of adding shearwater support.
Re: Shearwater Support
Yes. And No.
We have been working towards a database schema update for a while now. It will have capabilities for storing additional data such as is already found in the Shearwater database. So it made sense to "wait" until our new schema was finalized before tackling the shearwater import support so that all available data could be captured and saved without having to do it again later to get what we originally missed. Changing the database format requires co-ordination with our other desktop partners so as not to break compatibility and so this process is taking a while. We're pretty close now, but we prefer to not give timelines on new features so that we do not inadvertently mislead anyone.
Thanks for the understanding,
Cheers,
Janice

Re: Shearwater Support
Thanks for the update and being real about the timeline. If you need any additional dive data for the shearwater or any other model (work in dive shop) or need someone to beta test please feel free to let me know.
