Feature Request: Multiple Requests

Post by Azchipka »

Heres my general wish list of items for Dive Log Manager. Support for entering all via iphone / ipad would be great.

Thanks for your consideration.

-General-
Multiple Dive Edit: Would be great to be able to option+click and shift click multiple dives to edit a group in one change.

-Dives-
Multiple Tank Support: Would be great to be able to set data for multiple tanks with different mixes in each tank for a single dive
Tank Type Option: Stage, Deco, Back Gas
SAC Display: Displayed SAC Rate for Working and Resting portion of dive

-Buddies-
Drag and Drop Address Book Support

-Locations-
Set city, state, country in single pane.
Add drop down of preferred operator, with display of contact information

-Equipment-
Add linking to dives so you can get a total dive count on equipment.
Add service need by number of dives

-Statistics-
Add Average SAC Rate for Resting & Working

-Map-
Woud be great to click on dive flag for bubble of info on site

-Operators (NEW OPTION)-
Same as buddies but for dive operations

-Instructors (NEW OPTION)-

Same as buddies but for Instructors used

Oh ya one last thing would be an option in preferences for a professional mode (dive professional). That adds a students section just like operators and instructors listed above.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your thoughtful suggestions. We really appreciate getting feedback on specific features that users would like to see as it makes it much easier to prioritize our development efforts. We have already been working on a number of your suggestions (multiple tank support for example) and will add your other requests to our todo list.

One quick question about the SAC rate for working vs resting. How would you want the periods of work vs rest to be defined? Some computers provide information about work load directly but don't necessarily state what constitutes work vs rest and of course many computers provide no indication at all. Would you want to specify a single numeric limit that constitutes work vs rest or would you want to specify (possibly on the profile) manually the periods of work vs rest? Obviously this will only be possible to calculate if we also get regular consumption values in the profile data from the dive computer (which is not supported by all air integrated computers) so there will be many situations where it can not be calculated.

Regarding the Map suggestion ... you can get information about the dive site by hovering (vs clicking) your mouse over the "dive flag pin" (on the iPhone/iPad you tap on the pin). Right now the only information displayed is the site name and the "rating" but we could add more of the site information in the bubble.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by allowing for setting the site, city, country in a single pane. You can currently edit all the location information in a single screen (under Locations in the sidebar) in Dive Log Manager and can add that information to the dive on a single screen under the Dive->Details tab. Please feel free to contact us with more details about your specific desire in this regard.

You can add specific Equipment items to dives (under the Dives->Description tab) and get a summary of the dives that use each piece of equipment under the STATISTICS item in the sidebar. Just click "STATISTICS" and then click the "Equipment" button then you can click on any listed piece of equipment to see which dives it is used on. Please let us know if that is not what you were looking for.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Greg

Greetings Greg,

Thanks for the response.

Regarding working verse resting sac. In general the tec community defines working sac as the portion of the dive you are doing the dive AKA when you are on your back gas. Resting sac is sac rate during decompression aka hanging around doing nothing except looking off into the ocean. So for example if diver is breathing of a decompression bottle its safe to assume it should be calculated as resting sac instead of working.
