I currently have divelogDT installed on my iMac laptop , do I need to purchase Dive Log IOS to be able to use my iPhone to log dives and sync with divelogGT on my laptop?
I bought DT , now I have to buy dive log IOS as well?
Do I need to buy both programs?
Re: Do I need to buy both programs?
Hi Jeff,
I just responded to your similar question in our Dive Log Mnaager/DiveLogDT forum. For anyone just looking at this question I will include that answer here:
DiveLogDT for the Mac and Dive Log for iOS are sold individually so a single purchase does not get you both applications. Many of our users only use one of our products (iOS only or macOS only) further, many of our iOS users use a Windows PC as their desktop and many of our Mac users use an Android device for the mobile needs. We work closely with another developer to ensure compatibility between our iOS and Mac apps and his Windows and Android apps but we have no formal business relationship. So all 4 apps are priced independently so no one is left paying for something that they do not need.
There is also a historical reason that a single purchase can not be used to get both the iOS and macOS apps. Apple has only very recently (within the past few years) even made this possible. Unfortunately the terms that they made it possible under would require us to abandon support for our existing customers on either iOS or macOS (we’ve been selling these apps since 2008 so there are many thousands of users that would be impacted). So even though it is now technically possible to have a single purchase apply to and app from each platform we are not able to do this in practice. Again, we have priced the apps to be appropriate for development efforts associated with each app as if it was purchased stand alone.
I'm not sure which dive computer you are downloading, but Dive Log on iOS can download many dive computers that support Bluetooth LE natively. It is possible that you could get by with just Dive Log on iOS depending on your situation.
Cheers,
Greg
