Divelog DT damaged message

Post by squeekys57 »

Could you please advise if there is a fix for the message "Divelog DT is damaged please download from the Apple store" message ?
I am not able to re-download the software because the Apple store is aware that the software is installed as an application on my iMac.
Is this due to the new IOS update?

Please can you advise

Hello!

I know it’s frustrating but this is some sort of receipt problem from Apple which happens to users from time to time. That message is specific to when macOS tries to start up the App and the purchase receipt is “not right, ie: Apple can not validate that you in fact bought the App. We had several reports recently of users having the exact same error. And then "after a time" it's all fixed up on the Apple end. It doesn't *directly* have anything to do with a macOS upgrade (if you recently upgraded to Sonoma for instance), but I have noticed a correlation. DiveLogDT doesn't even get to run before that "damaged" message comes up on the screen so it's not related to the App at all.

If you continue to have problems, you can contact Apple for support, but depending on the timing, that can certainly be arduous. You can also delete the App from your machine, and then re-download it from the App Store which will force a new receipt to be downloaded. Don't worry, deleting the App will not delete your logbook, but you may have to specifically "Open" your logbook file again.

Please feel free to contact us if you continue to have problems.

Thanks,
Janice

Many thanks Janice....I will try to delete the application and re-download the DivelogDT. My only concern is that I am not sure what my password to login is...I do know my account name though. I will advise on how the delete and re-installation goes. Thanks for the support, its most appreciated

Hi again Janice

The Apple store is now asking for $24.99 to download the software again, even though I have paid this fee several years ago...Is there away around this?

Hi Gary,

If Apple is asking you to re-purchase DiveLogDT, then it doesn't think that the "Apple ID you are currently logged into the App Store with" has ever purchased it. If you purchased the App with a different Apple ID previously, you're going to need to log into the App Store with *that* Apple ID so that you can simply re-download it. It's all tied to the Apple ID and maybe you have more than one?

Also, make sure you are going to your "Purchase history" when looking for DiveLogDT. So on your Mac in the Mac App Store App, click on your name in the lower left and you should see all of your macOS App Purchases. If DiveLogDT doesn't show there, then try "another" Apple ID by signing out of that one and into the other one. If you can't log in to the Apple ID that purchased it, you will have to contact Apple to transfer your historical purchases unfortunately.

Good Luck!
Janice
