Apple Watch Ultra import/sync

Post by Ozemdive »

I have downloaded my dives from AWU and instead of 6 dives it imported 150+ snapshots. Had to revert the import. What did I do wrong?

I have used “import AWU dives (requires paired Apple Watch)”

Hi,

Apple just stores individual dive samples in the Health App so we have to construct dives based o those samples. When you tap on the Import Apple Watch Ultra dives you will see a screen with some options that you can adjust. The default minimum surface interval is 5 minutes, but if you have dives that have time spend on the surface longer than 5 minutes you can adjust the minimum surface interval to a longer period. Once you have the dive list, you can import just the dives you want and then repeat the process with a lower number if needed to get other dives.

The other thing you can do (if you have a smaller number of dives that need to be joined) is to "append" the dives after the fact. Just visit the main dives list and long press on the first of the "dives" you need to append to and then select the "Append Following Dive" menu option to join the two dives not one.

If you are seeing multiple dives even with a longer minimum surface interval, please take a screenshot of the dive list (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102616) after you have tapped the "Continue" button and send it to us at support 'at' moremobilesoftware 'dot' com and let us know what minimum surface interval you used.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi, thank you. I have identified the issue. There are lot’s of 1,1m and 1,2m that are a depth of our pool. Although not visible in Oceanic, AWU clearly stores them in Health. What I saw were not snapshots but stored swims in our pool. So I recommend putting a filter for depth at the important to be able to filter out shallow dives (aka swims under water).

Hi,

We do have a filter (not user settable) currently that will filter out all "dives" that have a max depth shallower than 1 meter. I'll look to make this a user settable option in a future update. 1 meter is probably a bit shallow anyways so I should probably make the default a bit deeper. I do want to capture pool training dives, so maybe 2 meters is a better default value. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Greg

Yes, something like this. Most public pools at the deeper end are no deeper than 2,5m. Also may be you can filter dives shorter than x (3-5minutes?).

Thanks for the feedback. I will see what I can do in an upcoming build of Dive Log.

Filter based on dive duration is a bit of a problem because many people use their Ultra for free diving. I think depth is a better option. I will probably add a new setting (similar to the surface interval setting).

Cheers,

Greg

I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are not right. I am assured. I suggest it to discuss. Write to me in PM.

I am not sure what your message is referring to but I'd be happy to hear any thoughts you have on the Apple Watch support or other Dive Log related topics.

Please feel free to contact us via email (support 'at' moremobilesoftware 'dot' com). You can write in German if that is easier for you to express your ideas. I can not write properly in German, but I can usually understand it okay.

Cheers,
Greg
