Template Dive

Post by bm133390 »

Is there a way to setup TEMPLATE DIVES as a template to keep without affecting dive counts? Something like this:
Template Name: Double Tank Dive
I would configure template as
double tank
maybe location
buddies
entry type
etc etc

Then I might have another Template Dive as SINGLE TANK maybe with similar info.

the goal would be to have multiple templates that I can select from to apply to the downloading dives selected. :D

No, there is no way to add additional template dives that will not affect the dive count. However, one trick that you a use is to create all your template dives with the same dive number which can be set to 0. Then you can pick the right one by gong to the top of the list (tap the status bar).

Note that you can also specify a Template tank that you can apply to all the tanks you are about to import. If the main detail you want to change is the tank (gas mix, tank size, etc.) then this will not affect your dive count and might met your needs.

I agree that having a separate list of dives that could be used as a template would be a useful feature. We will look to see if we can add something like this in the future (no promises on if or when this can be added as it has some unexpected complexities) . In most cases, people create the first dive in a series of dives (say on a dive trip) and use that as the template for each subsequent dive (this is how the temple dive feature was originally intended to be used) however, I can certainly see use cases for the way you would like to use it too.

Cheers,

Greg
