hello
I use your software on MacBook, iPad and iPhone for several years with a dive computer "Suunto Viper", but this one is dead.
My new dive computer is a VTX Oceanic and sync with Bluetooth LE, that works really well, but not with your software.
Help me please, do you have a patch or beta, is it possible to help you with tests ????
cordially
Patrick
Océanic VTX ...
Re: Océanic VTX ...
I have the same question: I used the USB cord for the connection and there was error that the dive computer had no dives.....
Any fixes in the works?

Re: Océanic VTX ...
Sorry about the late reply Patrick. I'm not sure why, but I simply missed your post.
The Oceanic VTX does support Bluetooth LE and can technically work with the iPhone/iPad. Unfortunately, in order to talk to the VTX via Bluetooth we would need information about the communication protocol specific to the VTX which we do not currently have (we would also need to have access to a VTX, but that is only relevant once we have the necessary protocol information). We do hope to eventually to support the VTX in Dive Log on iOS but until then, we are only able to support the VTX via our MacOS applications (Dive Log Manager/Dive Log DT) using the USB connection.
The current version of Dive Log DT and Dive Log Manager (the licensed version from our website) does have support for downloading the Oceanic VTX using the USB cable and should work. Please contact us directly via our support email address (support 'at' moremobilesoftware 'dot' com) so that we can work through the difficulties that you are having with downloading your particular VTX.
I would also be curious to know which applications and platforms (iOS, Mac, Windows) you are currently able to download the VTX via Bluetooth LE with as this might help us get a leg up on adding support for Bluetooth LE downloading in our applications.
Cheers,
Greg

Re: Océanic VTX ...
Hi Patrick,
Thank you for the information about your VTX. I will contact you via email regarding ways that you might be able to help us get the VTX working via Bluetooth with Dive Log.
DIVERLOG is developed by Pelagic Pressure Systems who also makes the Oceanic VTX (Oceanic and Pelagic are owned by the same company and Pelagic makes dive computer sold under a number of brands including Oceanic, Aeris and Sherwood). The reason that they can download the VTX directly via Bluetooth LE is that they have (for obvious reasons) access to the communication portal information used by the VTX. This is the same information that we'll require in order support direct downloads of the VTX. One can understand why they might not be to interested in sharing this information with us, but hopefully we'll eventually get the information that we need.
I'll be in touch via email soon.
Cheers,
Greg

Re: Océanic VTX ...
Did you ever get your IOS software working with the VTX? I too have a VTX and am interested in bluetooth sync.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Océanic VTX ...
Hi,
No, unfortunately we have still not been able to get the information that is required to talk to the VTX via Bluetooth. I'm sorry that I don't have more positive news for you.
Cheers,
Greg

Re: Océanic VTX ...
Hi Greg, to be clear - is this Oceanic refusing to share the protocol details with you?
If so, that is pretty poor behaviour in this day of open systems. I will organise an on-line petition, let's get our voices heard.

Re: Océanic VTX ...
Hi James,
Many computer manufactures choose to keep their protocols private for any number of reasons (not wanting to have to support 3rd party developers, keeping a leg up for their own software, safety/liability concerns, etc.). In many cases we are left to reverse engineer the protocols and memory layouts of various dive computers (there is an active community of 3rd party developers that work together on this ... in fact members of this group sorted out how to download the VTX via USB). Typically, the makers of many larger brands have not been inclined to share the information. However, that is not always the case. Unfortunately, Bluetooth is a fairly difficult protocol to reverse engineer (by design) and we have not yet been able to get the information that we need with respect to the VTX. That is not to say that the maker of the computer would absolutely not be willing to share the information, but we have not found a contact at the company that can help us in this regard. The maker of the VTX was (fairly) recently sold to AquaLung and that *could* result in a different posture towards 3rd part software developers being able to work with their devices.
With all that said, any company is a lot more willing to share information if they get consumer requests (rather than developer requests), so it would certainly not hurt to contact them and express your desire to see Dive Log work with the VTX. If you find anyone willing to help please let us know.
Cheers,
Greg
