Hi, is there a way to create sets of equipment, so you don't need to select overtime the same pieces.
I like the equipment function, so I can follow how many times I used my equipment, but I often dive in a season with almost always the same equipment,
so it would be great if I could define different sets based upon dive type location and period for instance.
If I do two or three dives at the same day - place, I usually have used the same equipment, and just other bottles.

Re: Dive - equipment - sets
Hi Dirk,
The easiest way to do this in the current version of Dive Log is to use the "template dive" feature when you create a new dive. For example, if you are doing multiple dives in a day with the same gear just create and edit the first dive as you normally would and then create each successive dive by tapping on the "+" on the Dives tab and then selecting the option to use the previous dive as a template. This will transfer over most of the information from the template dive to the new dive so that you do not need to re-enter that information. Similarly, if you are a adding a dive that is similar in nature to some previous dive you have done you can select any previous dive as a template dive using the other option that shows up when you tap the "+" on the Dives tab.
Note that if you are importing your dives from a dive computer, you can use this feature to similar effect. In this case, you add your dives first (using an appropriate template) and leave out the data that will eventually come from your dive computer (depth, time, temperature, profile, etc.). Then when you import your dive computer (using a DCbuddy or directly from a Shearwater Petrel 2) you select the dives you want to import from the dive computer and then tap the "Start Dive #" button and select the first dive you just created manually (the one that matches the first dive you selected to import from the dive computer). Dive log will then import each dive computer dive and add the information to each of the manually created dives in turn. You can do something similar if you download your dive computer using any of the compatible desktop applications as well (the details vary between the various desktop apps).
I hope that helps. Please feel free to let us know if you need any additional details.
Cheers,
Greg

Re: Dive - equipment - sets
Hi Greg, thank you for your clear and complete respons.
I found the "+" on the mobile app in Ipad, but not the desktop version.
I dive with a Suunto Cobra (and Vyper as back-up) and sync the data between dive computer and computer with USB (cable) connector to iMac,
On the desktop I import the dives and at these to the divelog db, add the additional dive info (place-buddies - equipment-....), so I can sync them with the mobile devices (iP...). Is the copy-template function also available at the desktop version?
rgds Dirk

Hi Dirk,
Yes, the same feature is available in Dive Log DT. In Dive Log DT you first select the dive that like to use as the template dive in the lower panel and the click on the "Action Menu" (the little gear icon next to the Edit button) or the Edit menu and select "Duplicate Dive" from that menu (or you can use the short cut CMD-D (command key and the d key). Then when you import our dive computer you can select the dives (shift-click will allow you t select a range of dives) in the upper panel that you want to import and then select the first manually created dive in the lower panel that matches the first dive you selected in the upper panel. Then when you click "IMPORT" the dive computer data will be added to the manually created dives.
You can also initially create the dives on your iOS device (maybe during your dive trip where you can also enter GPS coordinates, get Buddy signatures, etc.) and sync those dives to Dive Log DT before importing your dive computer and then just follow the steps above to add the dive computer data to the dives synced from your iOS device. Then, of course, you can sync the dives back to your iOS device to have a complete record on bot your Mac and your iOS device.
Cheers,
Greg
